Training your dog to use an automatic ball launcher is easy if done gradually and in a playful manner:
1. Introduce your dog to the device
First, allow your pet to calmly inspect the launcher, sniff it, and get accustomed to the new object. Turn on the device without launching a ball so that your dog does not become frightened by the sounds it makes.
2. Use a favorite ball
Show your dog the ball and launch it manually a few times yourself so that your pet understands the basic concept of the game: the ball flies out, and it needs to be retrieved.
3. Encourage ball retrieval
After your dog brings the ball back, help them place it into the receiving chute. Be sure to offer praise, a treat, or verbal encouragement every time they successfully return the ball.
4. Practice in short sessions
Initial training sessions should last 5–10 minutes to ensure your dog doesn't get tired and maintains their interest.
5. Reinforce the skill
Over time, your pet will realize that if they place the ball into the device themselves, the game will continue.
